Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-2 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, 20 October, in the third round of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The lead changed hands twice before the hosts pulled clear in the last ten minutes.

Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 38th minute, finding room at the edge of the box and drilling a low shot past goalkeeper Joan García. It came at the end of a difficult first half for both sides: Ousmane Dembélé left the pitch injured around the 20th minute, and Barcelona lost Dani Olmo to injury a few minutes later.

Barcelona answered ten minutes into the second half. Nineteen-year-old Xavi Espart, making his first Champions League start, played a quick one-two with Fermín López near halfway and ran through to equalise in the 55th minute.

PSG went back in front in the 72nd minute when defender Lucas Hernández powered in a header from a corner, his first goal since February 2024. The lead lasted seven minutes. Lamine Yamal made it 2-2 with a strike from a very tight angle, his 11th goal of the season.

Just two minutes later Vitinha restored the advantage with a half-volley from outside the area into the bottom corner. Fabián Ruiz then settled the contest in the 86th minute, turning in a low cross from Achraf Hakimi.

The result gives Luis Enrique's side three wins from three matches, while Hansi Flick's Barcelona suffered their first defeat in the competition this season despite at least ten saves from García. It is PSG's third consecutive win over Barcelona in European competition.
