Paris FC moved up to second place in Ligue 1 on Sunday, October 18, beating Stade Rennais 4-3 at the Stade Jean-Bouin in a matchday 7 contest decided only by a Lassine Sinayoko penalty seven minutes into stoppage time.

Maxime Lopez put the home side ahead in the 14th minute. Esteban Lepaul levelled from the penalty spot in the 29th. Lopez struck again four minutes into first-half stoppage time, and Paris FC went into the break leading 2-1.

The second half followed the same pattern. Lepaul converted a second penalty in the 74th minute, but Sinayoko restored the lead two minutes later with an acrobatic overhead kick from a cross by Ilan Kebbal. Lepaul then completed his hat-trick, once more from the spot, in the 88th minute, the third time Rennes had come back to level the score.

The winner arrived deep in added time. The referee awarded Paris FC a penalty after a video review of a foul by Valentin Rongier on Sinayoko, and the forward stepped up to score it himself for his second goal of the match. In all, four penalties were converted in the game, three of them by Lepaul.

Lepaul’s treble, all from the spot, took him to seven league goals this season and to the top of the Ligue 1 scoring chart. Lopez and Sinayoko each finished with two goals for the winners.

The win lifted Paris FC to 14 points, second in the table behind Paris Saint-Germain. Rennes stayed on 13 points after seven rounds.
