Editorial Policy
Our commitment to accuracy, fairness, and transparency in every story we publish.
The Saudi Times is committed to the highest standards of journalism. This policy outlines how our editorial team operates, makes decisions, and maintains the trust of our readers. All content published on this website — in English and Arabic — follows these principles.
1. Accuracy and Verification
All facts, figures, and claims published by The Saudi Times must be verified through at least one reliable source before publication. Where possible, we use multiple independent sources. When we are unable to independently verify information, we say so clearly in the article.
If an error is discovered after publication, we issue a correction promptly and visibly on the original article. We do not silently edit or delete published content without noting the change.
2. Editorial Independence
The Saudi Times maintains a strict separation between editorial content and advertising. Our journalists and editors are not influenced by advertisers, commercial partners, or outside interests when making editorial decisions. Advertising revenue does not determine which stories we cover or how we cover them.
3. Sourcing and Attribution
- All quoted material is attributed to its source. We do not publish anonymous quotes unless there is a clear and documented reason for protecting a source’s identity.
- When we reference external reports, studies, or publications, we link to the original source wherever possible.
- Sponsored content, branded content, or paid partnerships are clearly labeled as such and are never presented as independent editorial content.
4. Fairness and Balance
We strive to present multiple perspectives on complex or controversial issues. When reporting on disputes, allegations, or criticism, we make reasonable efforts to seek comment from all parties involved before publication. Stories are presented in a fair and non-sensationalized manner.
5. Sensitive Topics
We approach sensitive subjects — including religion, culture, health, and personal tragedy — with care, empathy, and respect. Our reporting on Saudi culture and Islamic traditions is guided by cultural literacy and a genuine desire to inform rather than sensationalize. We do not publish content that is defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful.
6. Corrections Policy
When we make factual errors, we correct them as quickly as possible. Corrections are appended to the original article with a clear note explaining what was changed and why. Significant errors are also highlighted on our homepage where appropriate. We take responsibility for our mistakes and treat corrections as part of our commitment to reader trust.
7. Advertising and Sponsored Content
The Saudi Times displays advertisements through Google AdSense and selected advertising partners. All paid or sponsored content is clearly marked with labels such as “Sponsored,” “Advertisement,” or “Paid Partnership.” Our editorial team has no knowledge of or influence over advertiser relationships, and advertisers have no influence over editorial decisions.
