If you follow Saudi football from overseas, your next big match may arrive through a creator's channel rather than a traditional sports broadcaster. The Roshn Saudi League has signed a deal with Footballco, the football media company behind GOAL, to show selected fixtures through GOAL's Front Three, a creator-led YouTube and social video brand. The first broadcast is Al-Qadsiah against Al-Hilal on Friday 23 October.
So what will you actually see? The streams pair live match footage, in selected markets, with the chatty discussion format Front Three is known for. Analysis comes from Yalla GOAL, Footballco's Middle East creator brand, covering the build-up, the players to watch, young talent and the storylines around each game.
Where you live decides how much you get. Full live broadcasts are limited to Canada, Belgium, the Nordic countries, the UK and Ireland. Everyone else can catch post-match clips on Front Three's TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram accounts. Footballco has also teamed up with Recast, the platform running the league's new distribution model, which lets approved publishers and content partners carry live league games on their own digital channels.
Mohamed Rassmy, the league's digital media rights director, said the deal reflects the league's push to find "innovative ways to connect with international audiences" and reach fans on the platforms they already use. Andy Jackson, Footballco's SVP for the Middle East, pointed to a previous test: watch-along coverage of last season's Riyadh Derby was viewed 3.8 million times.
The opener could hardly be bigger. Brendan Rodgers' Al-Qadsiah sit top of the table on 25 points, one ahead of an Al-Hilal side that includes Tijjani Reijnders and Gabriel Martinelli. The round 11 match is at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium in Khobar.
Two derbies follow on the schedule: Al-Ittihad against Al-Ahli in Jeddah on 26 November, and Al-Nassr against Al-Hilal in Riyadh on 10 December.
