Schools in several cities and governorates of the Kingdom reopen their doors to students on Sunday, 8 November 2026, after a full school week in which classes ran remotely on the Madrasati platform from Sunday, 1 November, to Thursday, 5 November.

The General Administration of Education in Jeddah Governorate announced that in-person classes resume on Sunday in the schools of Jeddah and Rabigh. The decision covers all male and female students as well as teaching and administrative staff. In the Riyadh region, schools in Riyadh city, Diriyah Governorate and the centres linked to them also return to in-person study. The return coincides with the start of winter school hours across the region, with the morning line-up set for 6:45.

Education authorities in Yanbu also announced that students go back to their schools on Sunday, while the General Administration of Education in the Asir region said in-person classes resume the same day in Abha, Khamis Mushait and their centres.

Last week’s switch to remote learning covered nine cities and governorates: Riyadh, Jeddah, Rabigh, Yanbu, Taif, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. Education departments described it as a precautionary step, with lessons continuing on Madrasati and other approved education platforms. The decision ended on Thursday, and no new extension had been announced for any of these cities by Saturday evening.

Parents are advised to follow the official accounts of their local education department for any updates before heading to school.
