Saudi Arabia’s business environment recorded strong activity during the first half of 2026, with nearly 46,900 new businesses entering the market, highlighting continued growth in commercial activity and an expanding private-sector base across multiple industries.
Business-sector indicators show that more than 45,000 new businesses entered the market between January and June, bringing the total close to 46,900 and reflecting continued momentum in business formation and investment activity.
A More Dynamic Business Environment
The growth comes amid ongoing efforts to improve the Kingdom’s business environment by streamlining procedures, expanding digital government services and strengthening private-sector competitiveness.
These efforts support the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the economy, increase private-sector participation and create a more attractive investment environment for both domestic and international investors.
Official data has previously shown the scale of the Kingdom’s private sector, with more than one million private-sector establishments, while regulatory reforms and business-enabling initiatives have contributed to the growth of new commercial registrations in recent years.
Expanding the Private Sector
The increase in newly established businesses reflects continued efforts to broaden the Kingdom’s private-sector base, support small and medium-sized enterprises and encourage entrepreneurs to enter a wide range of industries.
A growing number of businesses can also contribute to job creation, stimulate investment, expand the range of products and services available in the market and strengthen competition.
The development comes as part of the Kingdom’s broader economic transformation, which has placed private-sector growth and improvements to the ease of doing business at the center of its diversification strategy.
A Sign of Continued Economic Momentum
The entry of tens of thousands of new businesses during the first six months of 2026 highlights continued activity in the domestic market and reinforces the Kingdom’s growing position as an attractive destination for business formation and investment.
As economic transformation programs and regulatory reforms continue, private-sector expansion and the growth of the business base are expected to remain important pillars of economic diversification and the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
