Kylian Mbappe had a hand in the moments that mattered at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night. He set up Arda Guler for Real Madrid's second goal, then curled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box on 83 minutes, his 12th goal of the season, as Madrid beat RB Leipzig 4-1 in the third round of the Champions League league phase.
Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock two minutes before half-time, pouncing on a goalkeeping error for his first goal since joining the club. Nine minutes after the restart, Mbappe headed Jude Bellingham's cross back across goal and Guler made sure it went in. Substitute Tidiam Gomis pulled one back for the Germans on 85 minutes, but Yan Diomande, who moved to Madrid from Leipzig in the summer, finished the scoring with a volley two minutes later. Madrid have a perfect nine points from three games.
Inter finally got off the mark in Milan, and they did it with ten men. Alessandro Bastoni was sent off for a second yellow card on 68 minutes, yet Carlos Augusto scored the only goal against Shakhtar Donetsk nine minutes later, finishing a counter-attack set up by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The heavyweight meeting in Munich ended 2-2. Eberechi Eze put Arsenal ahead on 25 minutes, Alphonso Davies equalised ten minutes later and Harry Kane converted a 61st-minute penalty for Bayern, before Declan Rice earned the visitors a point on 82 minutes.
Elsewhere, Galatasaray came from behind to win 4-2 at Lille, with Victor Osimhen among the scorers, and Aston Villa beat Viking 3-1. Club Brugge saw off Lens 3-0, an Isco penalty gave Real Betis a 1-0 win over Feyenoord, and Sporting CP lost 3-2 at home to LASK. Villa and Betis are now two of five sides with maximum points after three rounds.
