The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority has recorded 11,439 beehives participating in the Talh and Sidr seasons as of early July.
The initiative is part of the authority’s efforts to regulate beekeeping activities, preserve vegetation and encourage the sustainable use of natural resources within the reserve.
8,050 Beehives During Talh Season
The Talh season accounted for the largest share, with 8,050 beehives owned by 99 beekeepers.
The seasonal program operates under regulations designed to allow beekeepers to benefit from the reserve’s natural resources while protecting its vegetation and supporting long-term environmental sustainability.
3,389 Beehives During Sidr Season
The Sidr season recorded another 3,389 beehives owned by 55 beekeepers, bringing participation across the two seasons to more than 11,400 hives.
According to the authority, the figures reflect growing interest in organized seasonal beekeeping programs within the reserve.
Female Beekeeper Participates in Talh Season
The Talh season also included the participation of a female beekeeper.
The authority said the participation reflects its commitment to enabling different segments of the local community to benefit from opportunities associated with the reserve’s natural resources and take part in related economic activities.
Supporting Honey Production and Biodiversity
Organizing the Talh and Sidr seasons forms part of broader efforts to preserve plant biodiversity, support the beekeeping industry and increase the sustainable production of natural honey.
The initiative also supports local community development while seeking to maintain a balance between utilizing natural resources for economic activity and conserving them for the future.
