Saudi Food and Drug Authority announced the recall of a chocolate product from Saudi markets after discovering that one of its ingredients was not properly declared on the product label.
According to the authority, Beladis Arabian Food Industries initiated a voluntary recall of GODIVA Kunafah & Pistachio Milk Chocolate Bar due to the absence of egg labeling in the ingredient list, which may pose health risks for consumers with egg allergies, especially children.
The SFDA urged consumers who are allergic to eggs to avoid consuming the affected product, confirming that it is directly overseeing the recall process in coordination with the company.
Officials emphasized that voluntary product recalls are considered a standard international safety practice aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring food safety standards, while also noting that such measures do not remove legal responsibility from companies in the event of any harm caused by the product.
