Every trainee at a Saudi technical college or secondary industrial institute lives inside one system from the day they are admitted to the day they graduate: Rayat. Below are plain answers on what it is, how to sign in, where the main services sit and what to do when something goes wrong, drawn from the pages and user guides published by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).
What exactly is Rayat? It is TVTC's name for the Banner student information system that runs training affairs across its colleges and institutes. The system holds the full trainee file, from personal details, training plan and admission decision to the academic record and current status. Trainers use the same system to see their timetables and enter grades and attendance. For trainees, the everyday entry point is the self-service portal, where they can review their account, drop and add courses, and check final grades.
Who uses the portal, and what will a trainee find there? The Rayat page splits its services between three groups: trainees, trainers and unit supervisors. Under the trainees section, the links include:
- Trainee self-registration, used to register courses at the start of each semester.
- Trainee self-service, for electronic requests and account details.
- View trainee schedule.
- Current grades and the full training transcript.
- Attendance and absence enquiry.
- Course equivalency.
- Trainee email and the Blackboard e-learning portal.
How do I log in, step by step? TVTC's comprehensive self-service guide, prepared by its IT department, describes almost the same route for most services:
- Open the Rayat page on the TVTC website.
- Go to the "Trainees" section.
- Pick the service you need, such as self-registration, the schedule or self-service.
- Enter your training account details; the username is built on your trainee number.
- Complete the two-step verification if the system asks for it.
To know when each request is open, the guide points to the academic calendar at the top of the Rayat page. Only requests allowed in the current window appear in the list, which explains why an option can seem to vanish for weeks at a time.
Why does Rayat now ask for a second verification step? On 27 November 2024 TVTC told trainees that cybersecurity requirements now call for multi-factor authentication on both their email account and their Rayat account. Its illustrated guide asks the trainee to open the security info page with their TVTC email, add a mobile number confirmed by text code or phone call, and then add the Microsoft Authenticator app by scanning a QR code. Once that is done, protected TVTC services accept sign-in through the app or a text message. It fits a wider push on cybersecurity awareness in education this year.
Is admission handled in Rayat? Rayat stores the admission decision, but applications go through TVTC's separate online registration portal, listed among the corporation's portals. For the first semester of the 1448 AH training year, TVTC opened direct admission in August 2026 to the morning secondary diploma at industrial institutes in 16 specialisations, the evening diploma at technical colleges for men and women in 39 specialisations, and 49 short programmes that each last one semester and pay a monthly stipend, Okaz newspaper reported. Programmes like these sit alongside national efforts linking students with manufacturers, as the Kingdom builds a technical workforce.
What are the most common problems, and how are they fixed? Most are simple once you know where to look:
- Forgotten password: the "Forgot your password?" link in the trainees section leads to the reset service, which relies on the mobile number kept up to date in Rayat.
- Service showing in English: the guide suggests switching the browser language to Arabic.
- A request missing from the list: its window has probably not opened yet, so check the academic calendar.
- Stipend held up by bank details: an IBAN add or update request is available in self-service for trainees entitled to the stipend, after which the training unit reviews the data.
For direct help, the Rayat page lists the unified number 011-2896664. The guide also notes that a semester withdrawal must be filed by the end of the ninth week at the latest and can be used only once during a training stage, so it is worth being sure before sending one.
What is the latest official update? TVTC lists a project titled "Developing Rayat services and trainee systems", which started on 15 September 2023 with an end date of 1 December 2025. Among its listed results are the admission portal, early registration, group registration, electronic payment, the first phase of trainee affairs services and curriculum management services. The Rayat page also announces a Rayat smartphone app for trainees, linked from the same page.
