New leaks suggest that Samsung is preparing a significant shift in the naming strategy of its next-generation foldable smartphones ahead of its expected summer 2026 launch event.
According to the reports, the company plans to introduce two devices under the names Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, potentially redefining the hierarchy within Samsung’s foldable lineup.
The “Fold 8 Ultra” is expected to serve as the direct successor to the current Fold 7, while the standard “Fold 8” could arrive with a wider and shorter design previously rumored under the name “Fold 8 Wide.”
Leaks indicate that Samsung may adopt a form factor similar to concepts surrounding Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone, focusing on a broader display and improved usability, though possibly with some compromises in camera hardware.
The rumored “Ultra” model is expected to feature upgrades including a 5,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
However, despite carrying the “Ultra” branding, reports suggest the device may still lack certain flagship Galaxy S Ultra features such as S Pen support, higher charging speeds, and more advanced zoom camera systems, raising questions about how Samsung plans to position the device.
Samsung is expected to officially unveil the new foldable lineup alongside Galaxy Z Flip 8 during its upcoming Unpacked event in July, with industry rumors also pointing to possible price increases across the foldable series.
