Regulations have resolved the uncertainty surrounding Belgian star Yannick Carrasco’s suspension, confirming that his red card in the Gulf Champions League final will not affect his participation in Saudi domestic competitions.
According to official sources, the suspension applies exclusively within the Gulf tournament framework and does not extend to the Saudi Pro League or other local competitions governed by the Saudi Football Federation.
Carrasco was sent off in the 59th minute of the final against Al-Rayyan after protesting a refereeing decision, raising concerns about a potential domestic ban.
However, under the competition’s regulations, the suspension will only be enforced if Al-Shabab participates in the next edition of the Gulf tournament. This ensures Carrasco remains eligible for upcoming domestic fixtures, including the crucial match against Al-Fateh.
This decision provides a significant boost for Al-Shabab, allowing the team to move forward with a full squad as it looks to recover from the final defeat and improve its position in the league standings.
