Kingdom Holding Company has announced that the fair value of its stake in SpaceX has risen to approximately $6.83 billion following the company’s successful initial public offering and listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
The announcement comes after one of the most closely watched public offerings in recent years, marking a significant milestone for the aerospace and technology giant.
Strong Market Debut
SpaceX shares were offered at an IPO price of $135 per share before closing their first trading session at $160.95.
The strong performance reflected substantial investor confidence in the company’s long-term growth prospects and leadership position within the global space industry.
Based on the closing price, Kingdom Holding’s investment experienced a significant increase in value compared with its previously recorded book value.
More Than 42 Million Shares
The company stated that it currently owns approximately 42.409 million Class A common shares of SpaceX.
As of March 31, 2026, the investment carried a book value of approximately $4.47 billion, highlighting the substantial appreciation achieved following the public listing.
Lock-Up Period Applies
Under the terms of the IPO, Kingdom Holding’s shares in SpaceX are subject to a lock-up period of up to 180 days from the date of listing.
Certain provisions may allow an earlier release depending on company performance and future financial disclosures.
Long-Term Strategic Investment
Kingdom Holding emphasized that it views its investment in SpaceX as a long-term strategic holding.
The company noted that its relationship with Elon Musk’s business ecosystem dates back to its early investment in Twitter, now known as X, as well as its participation in xAI before subsequent corporate integrations within Musk’s broader portfolio of companies.
Potential Reclassification of the Investment
Following the successful IPO, Kingdom Holding indicated that its SpaceX investment could be reclassified within the fair value hierarchy under international financial reporting standards.
Because the shares now trade in an active public market, future valuations can be based directly on observable market prices, providing greater transparency and more accurate assessment of the investment’s value.
The development represents a significant financial milestone for Kingdom Holding and reinforces the growing importance of technology and space-sector investments within its portfolio.
