Three goals in the final and a first title at this level. Egypt's Under-17 side came to the Gulf Cup in Qatar as an invited team and left as champions on Wednesday evening, 4 November 2026, winning the final 3-1 at Hamad Al Kabeer Stadium in Doha.
Khaled Mahmoud put Egypt ahead in the 19th minute, but the score was level at 1-1 by half-time. Mohamed Gamal restored the lead in the 65th minute, and substitute Khaled Mokhtar settled it late on. Coached by Hussein Abdel Latif, the team went through the whole tournament unbeaten: four wins out of four in the group stage, then China were beaten 4-0 in the last four.
Egypt also collected the individual prizes. Gamal and Mokhtar shared the top scorer award with five goals each, while captain Ahmed Safwat was named player of the tournament. The Gulf Cup was the squad's final test before the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, which runs from 19 November to 13 December. Egypt, bronze medallists at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in June, are in Group A with Qatar, Greece and Panama.
