Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced that Monday will mark the first day of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon on Sunday evening.
The court confirmed that the Day of Arafat will fall on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, while Eid Al-Adha will begin on Wednesday, May 27.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had called on Muslims across the Kingdom to observe the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah on Sunday evening, corresponding to the 29th day of Dhul Qa’dah according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar.
The announcement officially signals the beginning of one of the most significant periods in the Islamic calendar, as millions of pilgrims prepare to perform Hajj rituals in the holy sites under extensive organizational and service preparations by Saudi authorities.
The Day of Arafat is considered the most important day of Hajj, during which pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafat to perform the central pillar of the pilgrimage, while Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate Eid Al-Adha shortly afterward.
