Saudi Roads Authority Achieves 95.5% Compliance in Road Construction Projects

The Saudi Roads General Authority has achieved a 95.5% compliance rate in the implementation of road construction projects outside urban areas, exceeding both its 2025 target of 90% and its 2030 target of 92%.

The achievement reflects continued progress in project execution, supervision and performance across the Kingdom’s road sector, contributing to higher-quality infrastructure and greater efficiency in the delivery of road projects.

Performance Surpasses the 2030 Target

The authority said the latest performance figure exceeded both its 2025 and 2030 targets, highlighting improvements in project discipline and compliance with approved standards and specifications.

The authority continues to oversee road construction projects and strengthen project management practices to improve the quality of the road network, enhance user experience and increase the efficiency of infrastructure delivery.

40 New Projects Covering More Than 900 Kilometers

The achievement comes amid accelerated road development activity across the Kingdom during the first half of 2026.

During the period, the authority implemented 40 new road projects spanning more than 900 kilometers across Makkah, Madinah, Asir, the Eastern Province and Qassim.

The projects are designed to improve connectivity between cities and governorates, reduce travel times and enhance transportation efficiency while supporting economic, tourism and logistics activity.

The authority also issued more than 32,000 permits for services related to the road network, while logistics roads accommodated more than 3.7 million truck journeys during the same period.

Strengthening Road Safety and Infrastructure

The authority continues to implement major projects and initiatives aimed at improving the Kingdom’s road sector, with a strong focus on quality, safety and network efficiency.

The Road Sector Program targets reducing the road fatality rate to fewer than five deaths per 100,000 people, while also improving road quality and safety standards for users.

Infrastructure Supporting Economic Transformation

The latest indicators highlight the Kingdom’s continued investment in its infrastructure and road network, supporting economic, tourism and logistics activity while strengthening connectivity across the country.

The development aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which include upgrading infrastructure, strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub, improving service quality and enhancing mobility.
