Saudi Arabia’s National Afforestation Program announced the successful completion of three environmental donation campaigns launched through the national charitable platform Ehsan, aimed at supporting afforestation projects and sustainable nature reserves across multiple regions of the Kingdom.
More than 51,000 donors participated in the campaigns, reflecting growing environmental awareness and stronger community engagement in supporting sustainability initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
According to the program, the three projects will contribute to planting and rehabilitating more than 225,700 square meters of vegetation-covered land, helping improve environmental conditions, combat desertification, and enhance quality of life.
Afforestation Projects Across Three Regions
The environmental initiatives cover three major locations: Rijal Almaa, Qaryat Al Ulya, and Al Majma’ah.
In Qaryat Al Ulya in the Eastern Province, the project aims to establish a sustainable reserve by planting 2,000 trees across 200,000 square meters, in partnership with Al Samman Green Environmental Association, following more than 15,000 donation transactions through Ehsan.
In Rijal Almaa, donations were completed for a project focused on combating desertification and rehabilitating valleys across 2,500 square meters, in partnership with Sanabel Agricultural Association.
Meanwhile, in Al Majma’ah, the campaign saw more than 27,000 donations, supporting a project designed to protect the environment and expand green coverage across 3,200 square meters, in partnership with Al Barari Association.
Long-Term Environmental Impact
The National Afforestation Program stated that these projects are expected to directly benefit more than 100,000 people in the targeted areas.
Officials also emphasized that the strong public response reflects rising environmental responsibility and growing awareness of the importance of protecting natural resources and restoring vegetation.
Supporting Sustainability Goals
These initiatives are part of a broader cooperation agreement between the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification and the Ehsan Platform.
The partnership aims to strengthen charitable environmental work while supporting national initiatives focused on:
- Expanding vegetation cover
- Combating desertification
- Improving quality of life
- Enhancing environmental sustainability
- Creating sustainable development opportunities
Through these efforts, Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its environmental leadership and advance long-term sustainability goals.
