Attention is turning to the Saudi Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee following the incidents involving Al-Ahli defender Merih Demiral during the recent Clasico against Al-Nassr in Round 30 of the Saudi Pro League.

Ayman Al-Rifai, former head of the Disciplinary Committee, stated that Demiral’s media remarks could be considered offensive toward the federation and its committees, as well as inciting public opinion. This may result in a fine of up to SAR 100,000 under Article 50, with the possibility of increased penalties in case of repeated violations.

He also noted that televised footage showed a strong challenge by Demiral on Kingsley Coman, which could lead to a two-match suspension and a SAR 20,000 fine under Article 48.

Al-Ahli Leadership Praises Historic Achievement

Meanwhile, Al-Ahli chairman Khaled Al-Ghamdi expressed immense pride in the club’s back-to-back AFC Champions League Elite titles, highlighting the team’s strength and consistency.

He emphasized that the team delivered exceptional performances throughout the tournament, remaining unbeaten in one edition and eliminating strong opponents, reflecting both technical quality and organizational excellence.

Al-Ghamdi also praised head coach Matthias Jaissle, describing him as ambitious and tactically sharp, capable of building a cohesive and competitive squad. He attributed much of the success to the club’s stability and retention of key players over multiple seasons.

He extended special appreciation to Al-Ahli fans, noting that their unwavering support played a crucial role in the club’s success, stating: “What we offer the club is far less than what the fans give us.”

Al-Ghamdi concluded by affirming that the club’s ambitions remain high, with a strong focus on upcoming challenges, including the FIFA Club World Cup and other international competitions.
