Kidana Development Co. is continuing the expansion of Mina Emergency Hospital 2 in Makkah in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Health as part of Saudi Arabia’s preparations to strengthen healthcare services for pilgrims during the Hajj season.
The current development phase includes the construction of three additional floors and a new annex covering a total area of 18,000 square meters, increasing the hospital’s capacity to 400 beds.
The expansion builds on the first phase completed during last year’s Hajj season, which covered 5,300 square meters and provided 200 beds for pilgrims.
To improve medical integration and patient movement, Mina Emergency Hospital 2 has also been connected to Mina Emergency Hospital 1 through a dedicated bridge designed to support coordinated emergency services across the holy site.
The project aims to enhance the healthcare system’s ability to respond rapidly to emergencies and provide urgent medical care near high-density pilgrim gathering areas in Mina.
Meanwhile, Saudi Red Crescent Authority has activated an intensive operational plan around Grand Mosque to ensure rapid emergency response and medical support for worshippers and visitors.
The authority deployed more than 270 ambulance units across Makkah and the central area, including traditional ambulances, ambulance golf carts, rapid intervention teams, motorcycles, scooters, and electric emergency vehicles designed to move efficiently through crowded areas.
More than 570 paramedics, technicians, and specialists, supported by healthcare volunteers, are participating in the emergency response plan during the peak Hajj season.
In another initiative aimed at improving pilgrim services, General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque launched interactive 3D maps integrated into the Nusuk card system.
The digital service provides real-time navigation assistance, including routes, crowd information, transportation guidance, prayer area occupancy rates, restroom locations, and religious guidance offices to improve crowd management and ease pilgrim movement.
These initiatives reflect the Kingdom’s broader efforts under Saudi Vision 2030 to modernize infrastructure and deliver safer, smarter, and more efficient services for pilgrims visiting the holy sites.
