Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Suspends 21 Umrah Companies Over Poor Performance and Regulatory Violations

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has suspended 21 Umrah service providers after identifying performance deficiencies and regulatory violations during the previous Umrah season.

The move reflects the ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving service quality, protecting pilgrims’ rights, and enhancing the overall Umrah experience in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.

Evaluation Results Reveal Performance Shortcomings

According to the ministry, 15 companies failed to meet the minimum performance standards required under its evaluation framework, resulting in their suspension.

An additional six companies were suspended after being found in violation of regulatory requirements that warranted corrective action.

The ministry’s assessment system relies on operational and supervisory indicators designed to measure service quality and compliance with approved regulations.

Driving Competition and Service Excellence

The continuous evaluation program is intended to encourage healthy competition among Umrah service providers while motivating companies to improve performance and customer satisfaction.

The system also helps ensure that operators comply with operational standards and deliver services that meet the expectations of pilgrims visiting the Kingdom.

These efforts form part of broader initiatives aimed at developing the Umrah sector and enhancing service quality across the industry.

Protecting Pilgrims’ Rights

The ministry emphasized that it will not tolerate any shortcomings that negatively affect pilgrims or compromise their rights.

Officials reiterated that monitoring, inspections, and periodic evaluations remain essential tools for improving the sector and maintaining high standards among service providers.

The ministry added that accountability measures will continue to be applied whenever necessary to safeguard the interests of pilgrims and visitors.

Supporting Vision 2030 Goals

The suspensions are part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to modernize and improve the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem through stronger governance, higher service standards, and greater operational efficiency.

By enforcing quality benchmarks and regulatory compliance, the ministry aims to ensure a safer, more reliable, and more rewarding experience for millions of pilgrims traveling to the Kingdom each year.
