GCC Secretary-General Highlights Youth as Key Drivers of National Visions and Future Development

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi has emphasized that Gulf youth represent one of the most important pillars in building the future of GCC member states and achieving their ambitious national visions and development strategies.

Speaking on the occasion of Gulf Youth Day, observed annually on June 6, Albudaiwi praised the growing contributions of young people across various sectors and highlighted their vital role in shaping the region’s future.

He noted that GCC leaders place significant importance on empowering youth through comprehensive policies, regulations, and initiatives designed to develop their skills, strengthen their capabilities, and prepare them to successfully navigate future opportunities and challenges.

According to Albudaiwi, Gulf countries recognize that investing in young people is essential for sustaining economic growth, accelerating innovation, and achieving long-term national development goals.

The GCC Secretary-General also stressed that the General Secretariat continues to support joint youth initiatives among member states by promoting coordination, facilitating knowledge exchange, and organizing specialized training and capacity-building programs.

These initiatives aim to equip young people with the tools needed to excel in a rapidly evolving global environment while encouraging entrepreneurship, creativity, and active community participation.

Albudaiwi highlighted that fostering innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among youth is increasingly important as GCC countries continue their transition toward diversified, knowledge-based economies that rely on highly skilled national talent.

He added that young people are not only beneficiaries of development plans but also active partners in designing and implementing the future of the region.

The Secretary-General reaffirmed the GCC’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment initiatives and creating an environment that enables young people to achieve their ambitions and maximize their potential.

Concluding his remarks, Albudaiwi described Gulf youth as a strategic national asset whose energy, talent, and creativity will play a decisive role in driving sustainable development, innovation, and prosperity across the GCC for generations to come.
