The city of Fez hosted a major international conference organized by the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, which concluded with the issuance of the “Fez Message” on the future of human civilization in the age of Artificial Intelligence, calling for stronger global cooperation and ethical governance of emerging technologies.
Held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the event brought together more than 2,000 participants from 75 countries, including academics, policymakers, and global experts, to address the profound transformations driven by rapid advancements in AI.
Among the prominent speakers was Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa of the Muslim World League, alongside international figures such as Miguel Moratinos.
In its final statement, the conference described AI as a major opportunity to advance human progress, while emphasizing that its development must be guided by universal values, fairness, and respect for human dignity.
Participants highlighted the need for governance frameworks built on transparency, accountability, responsibility, and explainability to enhance public trust in AI systems.
They also warned about challenges related to algorithmic bias and data quality, calling for flexible international regulatory frameworks capable of evolving alongside technological advancements.
The discussions underscored AI’s growing role in sectors such as healthcare, while stressing the importance of ensuring data protection and scientific reliability.
