Barcelona continued their perfect start to the Spanish La Liga season with a convincing 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Monday, securing a third consecutive league win and maintaining their place at the top of the table, while Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim featured for the Catalan side.

Rayo Strike First, but Barcelona Respond Quickly

Rayo Vallecano stunned the home crowd by taking the lead in the 12th minute through Sergio Camello, giving the visitors an early advantage against the defending champions.

Barcelona responded almost immediately. Raphinha equalized in the 19th minute before Lamine Yamal completed the turnaround just two minutes later, producing a composed left-footed finish into the top corner to put Barcelona ahead.

The rapid response allowed Barcelona to regain control and enter the remainder of the first half with renewed confidence.

Barcelona Pull Away After the Break

Barcelona increased the pressure after halftime and extended their lead in the 51st minute when Rayo defender Florian Lejeune inadvertently turned a cross from Anthony Gordon into his own net.

Rayo refused to surrender and reduced the deficit eight minutes later. Camello scored his second goal of the night with a header from a corner, bringing the visitors back within one goal.

Barcelona, however, responded decisively in the closing stages. Raphinha scored his second of the match in the 71st minute, taking advantage of a backheel pass from Gordon to put Barcelona firmly in control.

Yamal then completed the scoring in the 90th minute with a low finish, securing a five-goal haul for the hosts.

Hamza Abdelkarim Makes His Barcelona Appearance

The match also featured Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim, whose appearance for Barcelona marked an important milestone in his career and attracted significant attention from Egyptian football fans and the club’s global supporters.

His involvement came during a dominant Barcelona performance and provided the young Egyptian with an opportunity to experience competitive football with one of the world’s most prominent clubs.

Barcelona Lead the Table

The victory moved Barcelona to nine points from three matches, keeping them at the top of the La Liga standings ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference.

Rayo Vallecano, meanwhile, remain without a win after three matches and sit 18th in the table with no points.

Barcelona’s latest result further underlines their attacking strength at the beginning of the campaign, with Raphinha and Yamal once again playing decisive roles as the defending champions continue their pursuit of another league title.
