The latest draw came in a dramatic clash against Al-Nassr, where the match remained tense until the final moments. Al-Nassr had taken the lead through French defender Mohamed Simakan, and victory would have moved the team significantly closer to the league title before Brazilian goalkeeper Bento scored an own goal that handed Al-Hilal a late equalizer.
With this result, Al-Hilal surpassed its previous club record of eight draws in a single season, achieved during the 2017-2018 title-winning campaign and again in the 2022-2023 season when the club finished runner-up behind Al-Ittihad.
Despite remaining unbeaten throughout the current season, Al-Hilal’s high number of draws has kept the club in second place as it waits for Al-Nassr to potentially slip in its final match against Damac.
Al-Hilal’s nine draws this season came against Al-Qadsiah twice, Al-Ahli twice, Al-Taawoun twice, in addition to draws against Al-Riyadh, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Nassr.
In the overall history of the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ahli and Al-Orobah share the record for the highest number of draws in a single season, with 14 each.
Al-Orobah achieved the record during the 2013-2014 season, helping the club avoid relegation, while Al-Ahli matched the mark in the 2021-2022 season that ended with the club’s historic relegation.
Several other clubs have also recorded high draw totals in previous seasons, including Al-Taawoun with 13 draws in 2021-2022, while Al-Ittihad, Al-Faisaly, Al-Hazem, Al-Ettifaq, and Al-Fayha each recorded 12 draws in different Saudi Pro League campaigns.
