the Ministry of Education has approved an additional holiday for students and education staff in Jeddah, Makkah, and Taif on April 20-21, 2025.”
Jeddah’s Formula 1 event is a highlight of its prestigious sports and tourism season,
attracting thousands of visitors and spectators from around the world.
Beyond being a major sporting event, Formula 1 serves as a platform to showcase the Kingdom’s advanced infrastructure and organizational capabilities while also boosting the local economy through increased tourism and spending.

Why the Extra School Holiday?
The additional holiday aims to:
Encourage student participation and engagement with the global event.
Reduce traffic congestion in the city during the race days.
Promote awareness about sports as an integral part of social and cultural life.
This decision reflects the flexibility of the Saudi education system and its responsiveness to social and cultural developments.
