As part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is undergoing a strategic transformation toward electric mobility,

driven by government initiatives and major investments in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

“Ceer”: The First Saudi EV Brand

Launched in November 2022, Ceer is a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Taiwan’s Foxconn, with technology licenses from BMW.

Ceer aims to design, manufacture, and sell electric vehicles equipped with advanced technologies, including autonomous driving features.

The company plans to launch its first two models— a sedan and an E-segment SUV — in Q4 of 2025,

with production set to begin at the Ceer Manufacturing Complex by 2026.

“Lucid Motors”: A Strategic Partner in Local Manufacturing

U.S.-based Lucid Motors opened its first factory in Saudi Arabia in September 2023, aiming to produce 150,000 vehicles annually within three years.

This move supports the Kingdom’s plan to rank among the world’s top five EV producers and exporters by 2030.

“EVIQ”: Developing EV Charging Infrastructure

EVIQ, a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund and the Saudi Electricity Company, has launched a research center in Riyadh to develop EV chargers.

The company aims to deploy over 5,000 charging stations at strategic locations across the Kingdom by 2030,

enhancing infrastructure readiness to support electric mobility.

“King Salman Automotive Industrial City”: A Comprehensive Industrial Environment

Launched in King Abdullah Economic City, the King Salman Automotive Industrial City is designed to be a fully integrated hub supporting EV manufacturing.

The complex aims to attract investments and partnerships, accelerating the Kingdom’s transformation into a global center for sustainable vehicle production.

Tangible Economic and Social Impact

These initiatives are expected to create 30,000 direct and indirect jobs and attract SAR 562 million in foreign direct investment.

They are also projected to contribute SAR 30 billion to the Kingdom’s GDP by 2034.

Through these strategic steps, Saudi Arabia is positioning itself on the global electric mobility map,

reinforcing its status as a leading industrial and technological hub in the region.
