stc Group Extends Free International Calls for Gulf Citizens as Ramadan Gesture of Solidarity

Saudi Arabia’s largest telecommunications provider, stc Group, has extended its initiative offering free international calls to citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries for an additional three days, reinforcing the Kingdom’s spirit of solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.

A Royal Directive Translated Into Action

The initiative, first launched on March 1 in response to a directive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, originally provided three days of complimentary international calls for GCC citizens roaming on the stc network within Saudi Arabia. The extension now brings the total duration to six days, covering a critical period when many residents and visitors depend heavily on staying connected with their families across the Gulf region.

Under the program, GCC nationals using stc’s network in Saudi Arabia can make outgoing calls to their home countries at no charge. Saudi citizens roaming across other GCC nations also benefit from free outgoing calls back to the Kingdom, creating a two-way bridge of connectivity that reflects the deep ties binding Gulf societies together.

Telecommunications as a Pillar of Community Support

The decision underscores stc Group’s evolving role beyond commercial telecommunications into a broader platform for national and regional community engagement. During Ramadan, when families gather and spiritual connections deepen, the ability to reach loved ones without financial barriers carries significant social value.

stc Group, which serves over 160 million customers across its operations in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain, has consistently positioned itself at the intersection of technology and social responsibility. The company’s infrastructure supports millions of pilgrims and visitors each year, particularly during Ramadan and the Hajj season, when network demand surges dramatically.

Strengthening Gulf Bonds During Ramadan

The extension of free calls comes at a time when the GCC continues to deepen economic and social integration. Saudi Arabia, as the largest economy in the Gulf, has taken a leading role in fostering closer ties among member states through initiatives spanning trade, tourism, and now digital connectivity.

For the millions of GCC citizens living, working, and visiting Saudi Arabia during Ramadan, the gesture represents more than a telecom promotion. It is a tangible expression of the shared cultural and spiritual bonds that define the Gulf community during its most sacred season.

stc Group has not yet announced whether the initiative will be extended further, but the company’s track record suggests a willingness to respond to community needs as circumstances evolve throughout the holy month.
