Saudi Music Commission brought its “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” world tour to Rome with a major musical performance held at the Temple of Venus and Rome within the Colosseum Archaeological Park.
The event featured a special appearance by internationally renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli in a cultural showcase celebrating both Saudi and Italian musical traditions.
The concert included 32 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir alongside 30 performers from the Fontane di Roma Youth Orchestra under the direction of Italian conductor Marcello Rota.
The evening’s program blended Saudi, Italian, and international compositions, combining traditional Saudi musical heritage with globally recognized orchestral performances in a celebration of artistic and cultural exchange.
Traditional Saudi performing arts also played a major role in the event, with 55 performers presenting cultural showcases including Ardah Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Khatwa, and Yanbaawi in collaboration with the Saudi Theater and Performing Arts Commission.
One of the evening’s standout moments was the presentation of “Al-Hijr and Rome,” a collaborative musical composition exploring the historical and cultural connections between Saudi Arabia and Italy.
The piece was written by Saudi historian and academic Dr. Suleiman Al-Theeb and reflected centuries of cultural interaction between the two nations.
Paul Pacifico, CEO of the Saudi Music Commission, described the concert as a landmark moment for Saudi music and a strong symbol of cultural dialogue on one of the world’s most historic stages.
Andrea Bocelli also praised the collaboration, describing it as a beautiful example of music’s ability to unite cultures and people from different backgrounds.
The Rome performance marks another milestone in the “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” global tour, which aims to introduce Saudi Arabia’s musical heritage to international audiences while strengthening the Kingdom’s global cultural presence in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
