The Saudi Ministry of Health has renewed its call for all citizens and residents to receive the seasonal flu vaccine, stressing that vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent serious complications that influenza can cause.
The ministry emphasized that influenza should not be mistaken for a simple cold.
It is a viral illness that can lead to pneumonia and other complications, particularly for children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions.
Vaccination, it explained, significantly reduces the risk of infection and lessens the severity of symptoms if contracted.
The Health Ministry highlighted that vaccination is especially crucial for high-risk groups, including:
The elderly.
Patients with heart, lung, or diabetes conditions.
Pregnant women.
Healthcare workers who are more frequently exposed to the virus.
Easy Access to Vaccination
The ministry noted that the vaccine is available free of charge at all public health centers and hospitals, with appointments easily booked through digital platforms such as “Sehhaty.”
This ensures convenient access and helps increase nationwide immunization rates.
Public Responsibility for Prevention
The ministry also urged adherence to preventive measures such as regular handwashing, mask-wearing when needed, and avoiding close contact with infected individuals.
It reiterated that safeguarding the community against seasonal illnesses begins with awareness and personal responsibility.
