Saudi Entertainment Authority: New Entertainment Activities Law Boosts Investment Appeal

by 4 July، 2026

Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has described the new Entertainment Activities and Supporting Activities Law as a major regulatory step in advancing the Kingdom’s entertainment sector.

The authority stated that the new system aims to regulate entertainment activities and supporting services through a comprehensive framework designed to improve sector performance, raise service quality, and enhance investment attractiveness.

The initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and improve quality of life across the Kingdom.

The law establishes a clear regulatory framework for entertainment-related activities by organizing licensing procedures and defining operational standards and requirements.

Strengthening Investment Growth in Entertainment

The new regulatory framework comes at a time of rapid expansion in Saudi Arabia’s entertainment industry, driven by strong public demand for events and entertainment experiences.

Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, recently approved the new law to further strengthen regulatory procedures and support sector development.

The entertainment sector has become a key contributor to economic diversification, with the Kingdom attracting more than 89 million visitors, reflecting the sector’s remarkable growth.

Improving Transparency and Governance

According to the GEA, the new law improves transparency and clarifies the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of all stakeholders involved in the sector.

It also grants the authority broader regulatory and supervisory powers to oversee entertainment activities and ensure compliance with approved standards.

These powers include:

  • Monitoring and inspections
  • Compliance verification
  • Violation enforcement
  • Regulatory supervision

This framework is expected to create a more efficient and stable business environment.

Creating a More Attractive Investment Environment

The law also strengthens compliance by establishing clear rules for violations and penalties, helping improve operational standards and service quality.

In addition, it creates a more reliable operating environment for investors and operators by clearly defining procedures and business requirements.

Through these initiatives, Saudi Arabia aims to expand private sector participation in entertainment development, create new investment opportunities, and further strengthen economic growth and quality of life in the Kingdom.
