Najran Heritage Festival Showcases Traditional Crafts, Local Honey, and Cultural Heritage

The Najran Heritage Festival continues to attract visitors by celebrating the region’s rich cultural identity through traditional handicrafts, heritage clothing, locally produced honey, and agricultural products.

The event highlights the role of artisans and family businesses in preserving Najran’s heritage while supporting rural development and local economic growth.

Traditional Crafts Take Center Stage

A handicrafts pavilion organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture features a wide range of traditional Najrani products, including woven mats, baskets, hand fans, brooms, and traditional oil presses.

Local artisans say the festival provides an important platform to preserve these crafts and introduce them to new generations while expanding market opportunities.

Preserving Cultural Identity

The heritage clothing section has become one of the festival’s most popular attractions, featuring traditional garments that reflect Najran’s cultural legacy.

Among the exhibitors is Ali bin Mohammed Al-Abdullah, Najran’s oldest traditional tailor with more than 65 years of experience, who continues to promote traditional attire as a symbol of national identity and cultural heritage.

Award-Winning Local Honey

Honey remains one of Najran’s signature products, with local beekeepers producing premium varieties including sidr, talh, samar, salam, and qardh honey, alongside value-added products such as royal jelly, propolis, soaps, and skincare products.

Prices range from SR100 to SR400 per kilogram depending on quality and variety, while Najran’s beekeepers have earned gold and platinum awards at international competitions, highlighting the global quality of the region’s honey.

Supporting Rural Development

Ongoing initiatives continue to modernize beekeeping, preserve local bee species, and increase production, helping strengthen sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods while supporting the objectives of Vision 2030.
