Hail Municipality Launches Smart Recycling Machine to Feed Stray Animals and Reduce Plastic Waste

In a creative initiative that combines environmental responsibility with humane care, the Municipality of Hail has introduced a smart recycling machine designed to reduce plastic waste while providing food and water for stray animals in the city.

The innovative machine accepts empty plastic bottles and automatically converts them into points that are redeemed as food and water for stray cats and dogs.

These are dispensed into containers placed beside the unit, creating a sustainable system that rewards recycling with compassionate action.

This marks the first initiative of its kind in the region.

According to the municipality, this project aligns with its commitment to environmental sustainability and public cleanliness, while also promoting empathy and kindness toward vulnerable animals. The initiative aims to engage community members in actively participating in recycling efforts and instilling a culture of responsibility and care.

The first machine has been installed in a prominent location in Hail, with plans to expand the program based on the results of this pilot phase.

The municipality is also working to involve students, volunteers, and environmental organizations to amplify the initiative’s impact across the region.

This effort reflects the Kingdom’s broader vision of adopting smart solutions that balance ecological preservation with human and social values, in pursuit of more inclusive and sustainable urban environments.
