An Egyptian court has sentenced Randa Riyad, the business manager of renowned Egyptian singer Angham, to one month in prison after finding her responsible in a traffic accident that left a young man injured.
The court also allowed the suspension of the sentence upon payment of a bail amount of EGP 500, giving Riyad the option to remain free while pursuing legal appeals.
Accident Details
The case stems from a traffic collision in Cairo’s Heliopolis district, where Riyad’s private vehicle collided with a motorcycle near the Air Force Hospital.
The motorcyclist suffered a fractured leg and was transported for medical treatment, while police documented the incident and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Court Ruling
Following the investigation and court proceedings, the court convicted Riyad of causing injury through negligence and sentenced her to one month in prison.
Under Egyptian law, she may suspend the execution of the sentence by paying the court-ordered bail and retains the right to appeal the ruling before a higher misdemeanor court.
