Egyptian Actor Bayoumi Fouad Reveals Details of Shingles Diagnosis After Severe Pain Forces Film Delay

Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian actor Bayoumi Fouad has suffered a sudden health setback that required hospitalization at a private medical facility in Cairo, where he underwent medical examinations and received treatment under supervision.

In an exclusive statement to Al Arabiya.net, Fouad revealed that the episode began with an extensive skin rash that did not respond to conventional topical treatments before developing into severe pain affecting the skin and nerves.

Medical examinations confirmed that the actor had developed shingles, a condition caused by reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus. Fouad has since begun the recommended treatment protocol and is following doctors’ instructions to rest, with plans to resume his artistic activities once he has recovered.

Health setback delays “Hiroshima”

The illness has also disrupted production of “Hiroshima,” an upcoming film starring Fouad alongside Ahmed El Sakka and Mai Omar.

The production team was forced to postpone the opening scenes because they are closely connected to Fouad’s character in the film.

The health setback comes after an intensive period for the Egyptian actor, who previously revealed that he had taken part in around 12 artistic projects within a single year, spanning leading roles, supporting performances and guest appearances.

Latest cinematic appearance

Fouad’s most recent film appearance was in “Ibn Meen Fehom” (Whose Son Is He?), alongside Laila Eloui, Rania Youssef and Hala Fakher.

Fouad began his artistic career through university theatre before joining the Artistic Creativity Center workshop affiliated with Egypt’s Ministry of Culture. He later gained widespread recognition through a number of prominent television and comedy productions, including “Al-Kabeer Awi,” “Mawga Harra,” “Abwab El Khof” and “Esm Moaakat.”
