A transformative drama therapy workshop was recently held at Cinema Al-Balad in Jeddah under the theme “In drama we find the power to express, and in expression we find the power to heal.”
The event aimed to explore how creative expression through drama can serve as a therapeutic tool for emotional awareness and inner healing.
Led by clinical psychologist and creative arts supervisor Lujain Faqerah, along with actor and screenwriter Abdo Al-Shareef, the workshop guided participants through expressive exercises that allowed them to explore unconscious behavioral patterns and release emotional tension in a safe, supportive environment.

Faqerah emphasized that drama therapy does not require acting skills.
Rather, it focuses on helping individuals channel their inner emotions and navigate psychological challenges through non-verbal expression, making it accessible and beneficial for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Al-Shareef highlighted the broader value of integrating the arts into everyday life, noting that drama offers a universal language for expressing complex emotions and fostering personal growth beyond the stage.
The session received enthusiastic feedback from attendees, who praised the experience for blending artistic creativity with mental well-being, and for demonstrating how drama can become a meaningful path to emotional healing.
