As part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable development, a new agreement has been signed to advance biodiversity initiatives in AlUla, one of the Kingdom’s most prominent historical and cultural destinations.
The agreement is designed to restore ecological balance in the region by protecting endangered plant and animal species, rehabilitating natural habitats, and safeguarding AlUla’s unique environmental and geographical diversity.
It also outlines plans for research and awareness programs, the reintroduction of native species into their natural environments, and the expansion of protected areas in line with Saudi Arabia’s national sustainability and anti-desertification strategies.
Experts highlight that this step underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving the environmental pillars of Vision 2030, positioning AlUla as a global model where cultural tourism and environmental preservation go hand in hand.
The initiative is expected to further enhance AlUla’s status as a leading destination for eco-tourism and cultural tourism, blending its ancient heritage with pristine nature, and reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s role on the international stage in advancing sustainable development.
