Al-Taawoun received a major boost ahead of its upcoming clash against Al-Ahli after the return of Muteb Al-Mufarrij and Victor Hugo to full team training following recovery from muscle injuries.
Both players participated normally in Friday’s training session, giving head coach Pericles Chamusca additional options ahead of the highly anticipated match in Round 32 of the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Mufarrij had been sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury while representing the Saudi national team in a friendly match against Serbia last March, forcing him to miss the team’s last five league matches.
Victor Hugo also dealt with a similar injury during Al-Taawoun’s match against Al-Qadsiah in Round 24, which kept him out for seven consecutive league games and impacted the squad’s defensive depth.
As part of preparations for the upcoming fixture, Chamusca focused on a balanced training program that included tactical, physical, and technical sessions. The training began with a tactical briefing before moving into fitness drills and match-focused exercises.
Al-Taawoun is aiming to maintain its strong form and continue competing for a top position in the standings. The team currently sits fifth in the league table with 52 points after 31 rounds.
The return of both Al-Mufarrij and Hugo comes at a crucial stage of the season, providing valuable reinforcement as the race for the top positions intensifies.
