Al-Ittihad has moved within touching distance of securing continental qualification next season, needing just one more point to officially guarantee a place in the Asian playoff spots with two rounds remaining in the Saudi Pro League season.
The Jeddah-based side still has key matches ahead against Al-Shabab and Al-Qadsiah, with either a draw or a victory in one of those fixtures enough to mathematically secure qualification regardless of other results.
The situation gives Al-Ittihad a strong advantage heading into the final stretch of the season after a series of positive performances strengthened the club’s position in the standings.
At the same time, the club continues to make headlines in the transfer market following reports linking it with Polish striker Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Al-Ittihad has submitted an offer to the veteran forward as the club explores the possibility of bringing him to the Saudi Pro League in the near future.
The move reflects the growing ambition of Saudi clubs to attract some of Europe’s biggest football names as the league continues its rapid international expansion.
Lewandowski remains one of world football’s most recognized strikers and has continued to deliver strong performances for Barcelona this season, contributing to 22 goals across 44 official appearances in all competitions.
Al-Ittihad supporters are now closely following developments surrounding the potential transfer as the club looks to build a squad capable of competing strongly both domestically and across Asia in the coming seasons.
