Saudi club Al-Fateh has taken formal steps to secure the future of its Portuguese head coach José Gomes, amid growing interest from other clubs ahead of the end of the current season.
Mohammed Al-Dhaif, the club’s media director, confirmed that negotiations with Gomes have reached an advanced stage, as the management aims to finalize a contract renewal before its expiration.
This development follows earlier statements by Gomes’ agent, Karim Abu Suleiman, who revealed interest from Al-Ahli in signing the coach, sparking speculation about his next destination.
Gomes took charge of Al-Fateh in December 2024 after leaving Zamalek. Since then, he has led the team in 51 matches, recording 19 wins, 10 draws, and 22 losses in a mixed run of results.
Al-Fateh is keen to maintain technical stability by resolving the coaching situation early, especially amid increasing competition for top managerial talent in the Saudi Pro League.
