The Kingdom Ranks Third Globally in Living Organ Donation

The Kingdom has achieved a major medical and humanitarian milestone by ranking third globally

in living organ donation for the year 2024 — a reflection of its advanced healthcare system and growing culture of altruism.

A total of 1,706 organ transplants from living donors were performed across the country during the past year,

including 1,284 kidney transplants and 422 partial liver transplants.

The number of living donations rose by 4.9% compared to the previous year, highlighting increased awareness and public support for organ donation.

To support this progress, a new digital platform has been launched to streamline and organize the donation and transplant process,

improve service quality, enhance coordination between healthcare sectors, and ensure comprehensive care for transplant recipients.

Additionally, the number of individuals registered to donate their organs after death has reached nearly

540,000 — a testament to the growing social consciousness surrounding this noble cause,

and a step forward in the Kingdom’s vision for a compassionate and world-class healthcare system.
