Saudi Arabia has unveiled an ambitious new railway corridor that will stretch approximately 900 km from Jeddah to Riyadh, forming part of a larger cross-kingdom line linking the Red Sea to the Arabian Gulf. This strategic infrastructure project, with an estimated value of $7 billion, marks a pivotal stride under Vision 2030.
Officials say the new line will drastically reduce passenger travel time between Jeddah and Riyadh—from 12 hours down to under 4. Beyond passenger service, the rail corridor will connect to Dammam and Yanbu, unlocking faster freight routes and linking major ports and industrial zones—reinforcing the Kingdom’s ambitions as a logistics hub.
Early design tenders have been initiated for critical segments of the corridor, pointing to integrated development and construction soon underway. This project is expected to revolutionize national transportation, significantly reducing logistical costs, enhancing freight throughput, and promoting sustainable mass transit.
