As part of ongoing international cooperation and knowledge exchange in sustainability and water resource management, a delegation from the Kingdom has taken part in a specialized training program in China focused on rainwater harvesting techniques and their effective implementation.

The two-week program, held in Nanyang, Henan Province, was organized under the auspices of China’s Ministry of Commerce and welcomed participants from various developing countries.

The Saudi delegation included representatives from governmental and academic institutions working in the fields of water and environmental management, aiming to learn from China’s advanced experience in optimizing water use in arid and semi-arid regions.

During the training, attendees explored sustainable methods used in China for collecting, storing, and reusing rainwater—particularly for urban agriculture and irrigation.

The program included site visits to operational projects and technical discussions with Chinese engineers and experts.

Saudi participants emphasized the value of such training in building local capacity and enhancing the preparedness of national professionals, especially as the Kingdom prioritizes water security and efficient resource management as part of its Vision 2030 goals.

The insights gained from this exchange are expected to contribute to the development of innovative solutions tailored to the Kingdom’s climate, supporting its broader goals of sustainability, environmental protection, and responsible water consumption.
