In a major environmental milestone, the Saudi Green Initiative has led to the planting of over 31 million trees in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, as part of the Kingdom’s sweeping vision to combat desertification and promote sustainability.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced that the tree planting projects were carried out across various landscapes in collaboration with government entities, private sector partners, and local communities.
This effort aligns with the Kingdom’s ambitious goal of planting 10 billion trees nationwide over the coming decades.

Tree-planting campaigns were executed in multiple areas, including:
Coastal zones near the Arabian Gulf.
Desert oases and arid landscapes.
Highways and urban spaces.
Public parks and eco-reserves.

Key objectives of the initiative include:
Reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.
Preserving biodiversity in Eastern Province ecosystems.
Combating land degradation and soil erosion.
Enhancing quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
This achievement marks a significant step in Saudi Arabia’s national strategy to address climate change, particularly in a region known for its arid terrain and environmental vulnerability.
The Ministry affirmed that efforts will continue, with expanded partnerships both locally and globally, to fulfill the broader goals of creating a green economy and a sustainable environmental future.
