Saudi Film Festival Expands Global Reach with Collaboration with Japan’s Short Shorts Festival

In a significant step to elevate the international presence of Saudi cinema,

the Saudi Film Festival has launched a cultural partnership with Japan’s Short Shorts Film Festival to support emerging Saudi filmmakers and showcase their work on global platforms.

As part of this collaboration, eight Japanese films were screened during the 11th edition of the Saudi Film Festival,

while three award-winning Saudi short films will be featured in the Tokyo-based Short Shorts Festival.

The selected Saudi films include:

  • Me and Eidros by Sarah Balghunaim
  • In-Between by Ithar Baamer
  • Saleh’s Story by Zaki Al Abdullah

This partnership reflects the Kingdom’s growing commitment to cultural exchange and international artistic collaboration,

positioning Saudi short films as strong contenders on the global cinema stage.
