The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing (MOMAH) announced that more than 8,700 Saudi families benefited from various housing support services during the month of February 2026, through the programmes offered by the Sakani initiative. The ministry said the figures reflect steady progress in the national effort to expand homeownership among Saudi citizens across all regions of the Kingdom.
First-Time Homeowners Lead the Way
Among the total number of beneficiaries in February, 6,154 Saudi families moved into their homes for the very first time — a milestone that speaks to the tangible impact of the government’s housing programmes on the ground. These families accessed their homes through a range of financial and support packages offered under the Sakani umbrella, which works in close coordination with the Real Estate Development Fund and a network of licensed financial institutions.
Since the beginning of 2026, a cumulative total of approximately 17,200 Saudi families have benefited from housing support services through the end of February. This figure positions the year as one of strong momentum for the ministry as it works toward the targets set under Vision 2030’s Housing Programme.
The Sakani Programme
Launched as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reforms, the Sakani programme was established with a clear mandate: to provide practical, affordable, and diverse housing solutions that allow Saudi families to own suitable homes. The programme offers a variety of support options, including subsidised financing, direct housing units, and advisory services to help citizens navigate the homeownership process.
The Real Estate Development Fund plays a central role in the programme, partnering with commercial banks and financial institutions to make home financing accessible to a wider segment of Saudi society. The collaborative model has been credited with significantly increasing the pace of homeownership in recent years.
Vision 2030 Housing Goals
Saudi Arabia’s homeownership rate has seen a marked increase since the Housing Programme was introduced under Vision 2030. The government set an ambitious target to raise the rate of Saudi family homeownership and has been investing in new residential projects, infrastructure, and innovative financing models to achieve that goal.
The steady monthly numbers reported by MOMAH indicate that the housing ecosystem is functioning effectively, with families across the Kingdom taking advantage of available tools to secure their first homes. Officials have emphasized that the programme will continue to expand its reach in 2026, with new projects and additional support mechanisms in the pipeline for the months ahead.
