Saudi Arabia has achieved 24.9% localization in military spending by the end of 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s defense industry development and its pursuit of self-sufficiency under Vision 2030.
The achievement, announced by the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), reflects the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and national and international partners to empower local capabilities and localize advanced defense technologies within the Kingdom.
Recent years have seen major growth in domestic defense initiatives, including the establishment of national companies specializing in air, land, and naval systems, as well as advancements in radar, communication, and unmanned aerial vehicle technologies. Strategic partnerships with global defense firms have further enabled technology transfer and the upskilling of Saudi talent.
This progress represents a crucial step toward the Kingdom’s goal of localizing 50% of military spending by 2030, strengthening national security, boosting the local economy, and creating high-value job opportunities.
GAMI emphasized that this milestone highlights Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a regional hub for advanced defense manufacturing, underscoring the leadership’s vision to build a sustainable, competitive, and innovation-driven military industry.
