Saudi Arabia joined the international community in celebrating World Cities Day 2025, held under the theme “Empowering Cities for a Sustainable Future,” reaffirming its commitment to building smart, sustainable urban environments that align with the goals of Vision 2030.
The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, in collaboration with several government entities, organized a series of events and initiatives highlighting the Kingdom’s urban transformation in areas such as smart mobility, environmental sustainability, and renewable energy.
The celebration showcased flagship projects like NEOM, Green Riyadh, Diriyah, and Qiddiya, which serve as global models for the cities of the future — combining cutting-edge technology, innovative infrastructure, and efficient resource management.
The ministry emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s participation reflects its growing role as a global leader in urban sustainability and smart city development, with ongoing efforts to make Saudi cities hubs for living, working, and investment.
It also highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing smart urban transformation, improving quality of life, and fostering a balanced approach between economic growth and environmental stewardship.
