Saudi Arabia Doubles Length of Cooled White Walkways and Adds Accessible Paths for Pilgrims with Disabilities

As part of its comprehensive preparations for Hajj 2025, Saudi Arabia has announced a major expansion of its cooled white walkways in the holy sites,

along with the addition of dedicated routes designed specifically for pilgrims with disabilities.

The total area of cooled white pathways has increased significantly from 25,000 square meters to over 60,000 square meters.

These innovative paths are engineered with heat-reflective materials and advanced water-based cooling systems,

making them 8 to 15 degrees Celsius cooler than traditional pavement — a key feature in reducing heat stress during the pilgrimage.

To further support inclusivity, new accessible routes have been equipped with sloped entries, smooth ramps,

and dedicated assistance teams to ensure safe and comfortable movement for individuals with mobility challenges.

These enhancements reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to improving the Hajj experience in line with Vision 2030,

aiming to offer the highest levels of comfort, safety, and dignity for all pilgrims.
