Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced that the agriculture sector contributed SAR 117.8 billion ($31.5 billion) to the Kingdom’s GDP in 2024, marking a major milestone in the nation’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security, local production, and sustainable resource management.

This achievement reflects the success of the agricultural transformation programs under Vision 2030, aimed at boosting self-sufficiency, improving water efficiency, and integrating modern technologies and AI solutions into agricultural operations.

The ministry highlighted a notable rise in the sector’s economic contribution in recent years, driven by government support programs, expansion of sustainable farming practices, and investment in renewable energy and agricultural innovation.

Saudi Arabia has achieved self-sufficiency in several key food products, including dates, poultry, eggs, and fresh milk, while expanding agricultural exports to new regional and international markets.

The report underscores that the Kingdom’s approach balances economic growth with environmental sustainability, ensuring the long-term vitality of the agricultural sector, improving rural livelihoods, and reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional leader in food security and sustainable agriculture.
