Riyadh is set to host the International Restoration Week from October 1–5 in the Jax district of Diriyah, with the participation of institutions, organizations, and specialized companies from over 12 countries. This landmark event will bring together leading experts, academics, craftsmen, and researchers to exchange knowledge and experiences in the restoration of historic sites and buildings.
The exhibition will showcase the latest innovations in restoration, including advanced digital solutions, 3D technologies, and sustainable materials, while also highlighting successful regional and international case studies. The program will feature seminars and specialized workshops designed to enhance professional skills and promote best practices in heritage preservation.
The Kingdom places strong emphasis on restoration as a core pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to safeguard more than 34,000 heritage sites listed in the National Urban Heritage Register. This initiative aligns with broader cultural strategies to position Saudi Arabia as a leading global destination for culture and tourism, reflecting its rich and diverse historical legacy.
International Restoration Week is also expected to attract investors and cultural tourism stakeholders, serving as a platform to foster public-private partnerships in heritage conservation. Beyond its technical scope, the event seeks to raise community awareness of restoration’s vital role in connecting modern urban development with historical identity, ensuring that heritage remains a living and integral part of contemporary society.
